About the DCS Security Officer Role

The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) is recruiting 381 Security Officers for 2026. This is one of the largest public-sector security recruitment drives currently available in South Africa.

Salary Structure & Career Levels

The Security Officer role has three progression levels:

• CB1-3 (Senior): R313,521 p.a., requires 10 years CB1-2 experience

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

• Matric / Grade 12 certificate
• Completed Correctional Science Learnership, Basic Training, or Induction Training Course (ITC)

Experience requirements:

• CB1-1: No experience needed

• CB1-3: 10 years at CB1-2

Rehabilitation Support

• Maintain a safe environment for rehabilitation programmes
• Support human development initiatives for offenders
