This 12-month internship offers hands-on experience in biodiversity stewardship, protected area expansion, and landscape-scale conservation projects across the Cape and Garden Route regions.

Stipend: R8,750 per month
Eligibility: South African graduates with relevant environmental qualifications

Who Can Apply
Applicants must:
- Be South African citizens
- Hold a National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in:
- Nature Conservation
- Environmental Management
- Environmental Sciences
- Or a related field
- Have 1–2 years’ experience in conservation projects in the Cape Floristic Region
- Possess a Code 08 driver’s licence
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office and have GIS skills
- Demonstrate strong report writing, project management, and communication skills
- Be willing to travel when required
Advantageous: knowledge of protected area expansion mechanisms and landscape-scale conservation practices
Internship Responsibilities
- Assist with biodiversity stewardship and conservation activities in priority landscapes
- Support operational planning and implementation of SANParks MLL projects
- Conduct mapping and spatial analysis using GIS tools
- Coordinate technical assistance for stewardship sites
- Assist with capacity building and awareness initiatives
- Provide support with project administration, monitoring, and reporting
