Position Overview

Operators will be responsible for producing detonating cord throughout the production process, including machine setup, powder preparation, quality inspections, packaging and recording production information.

The role requires strong attention to detail, commitment to workplace safety and the ability to work efficiently in a hazardous manufacturing environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will:

  • Manufacture detonating cord across production stations C1–C6
  • Measure and prepare powder charges
  • Set up production machinery
  • Complete production log sheets
  • Record production quantities
  • Collect product samples for quality testing
  • Inspect finished products
  • Pack and label completed products
  • Perform production start-up and shutdown procedures
  • Maintain housekeeping standards
  • Follow Epex production methodology
  • Work overtime and shift schedules when required
  • Comply with all safety procedures

Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Mathematics and Science (advantageous)
  • At least 6 months’ explosives manufacturing experience
  • Experience in a Cord Plant (advantageous)
  • Machine operating experience
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Willingness to work shifts and overtime
