What Is a Section 18.2 Learnership?
A Section 18.2 Learnership is a structured training programme registered under the Skills Development Act. It combines:
✔ Theoretical training
✔ Practical workplace experience
Learners will sign a formal 18.2 Learnership Agreement registered with the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA), ensuring the qualification is nationally recognised upon completion.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must be unemployed youth and meet one of the following educational criteria:
Option 1: Grade 12
- Pure Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy)
- Physical Science
- English
Option 2: N2 Certificate
- Mathematics
- Engineering Science
- Two additional relevant subjects
Option 3: Engineering NCV Certificate
- 7 subjects at NQF Level 4
Option 4: Technical Grade 11
- Mathematics
- Science
- Language subject
- Related trade theory subject

🚗 A valid driver’s licence will be an advantage but is not compulsory.
