Thousands of South African youth looking for technical careers now have a new opportunity. The global diamond company De Beers Group has officially opened applications for its 2026 Engineering Learnership Programme at Venetia Mine in Musina, Limpopo.
This four-year artisan development programme offers unemployed youth the chance to gain formal training and practical workplace experience while working toward becoming qualified engineering artisans.
But interested applicants will need to act fast – applications close on 20 March 2026.
Engineering Learnership Programme 2026 Overview
The programme forms part of a structured QCTO Occupational Qualification training programme designed to develop skilled artisans in critical engineering trades.
Successful candidates will sign a Section 18.2 Learnership Contract, combining classroom learning with hands-on technical training.
Training will take place at the De Beers accredited training centre in Randfontein, with workplace experience completed at Venetia Mine in Limpopo.
Available Engineering Learnership Trades
Applicants can apply for one of the following artisan trades:
- Boilermaker
- Instrument Mechanician
- Electrician
- Fitter and Turner
- Diesel Mechanic
- Transportation Electrician (Auto Electrician)
- Rigging
Applicants must clearly indicate the trade reference number when submitting their application.

Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the learnership, applicants must have:
Grade 12 with:
- Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy)
- Physical Science
- English
- Minimum 40% pass in all subjects
Applicants must also have one of the following qualifications:
- N2 Certificate with 4 relevant trade subjects
OR - NCV Level 3 with at least 40% in Mathematics and relevant subjects
Additional Requirements
Applicants must also:
- Be willing to travel outside Limpopo for training
- Obtain a Red Ticket medical fitness certificate
- Pass criminal record checks and qualification verification
- Complete psychometric and technical assessments
Transport to the training centre will be sponsored by the company.

- Ability to interpret engineering drawings
- Good communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and in teams
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills

- Municipality or Tribal Council letter confirming local residency (not older than 3 months)
