Omnia (Fertilizer Division) is inviting suitably qualified South African youth to apply for its Mechanical Fitter Apprentice Programme for 2026.

This apprenticeship offers structured theoretical training and hands-on workplace experience within Omnia’s Agriculture division, a market leader in fertiliser production across Southern and East Africa and internationally.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have one of the following qualifications:

Option 1: Grade 12

With:

  • Mathematics
  • Engineering Science
  • English Language
  • Mechanical Fitter Trade Theory

OR

Option 2: N3 Certificate

With:

  • N3 Mathematics
  • N3 Engineering Science
  • N3 Engineering Drawing
  • N3 Mechanical Fitter Trade Theory

OR

Option 3: NCV Qualification

  • Engineering National Certificate (Vocational)
  • NCV NQF Level 4 (Mechanical Trade Theory)

Experience

  • No prior work experience required

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Successful apprentices will be required to:

  • Attend theoretical classes at an accredited training provider
  • Obtain on-site plant training
  • Complete the full Mechanical Fitter trade curriculum
  • Adhere to training schedules and requirements as prescribed by CHIETA
