Standard Bank is inviting talented graduates to join its PPB Risk Graduate Programme, designed to develop skilled Risk Practitioners through an 18-month rotational programme in the bank’s Risk Management division.

Programme Overview

The programme aims to equip graduates with:

  • Practical experience across Credit Solution Engineering, Lending Portfolios, Fraud Risk Management, and Non-Financial Risk
  • Analytical and decision-making skills to support personal and private banking operations
  • Exposure to value-adding projects, reporting, and insights to guide business decisions
  • Opportunities to develop coding, data science, and digital risk management skills

Graduates will be recruited as permanent employees from day one and assigned to a team of choice upon completing rotations.

Key Learning Opportunities

  • Understand the Credit Lifecycle and related processes
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and analytics
  • Collaborate with diverse teams across the bank
  • Build credit strategies and monitor machine learning models

Qualifications

Eligible graduates must hold or be completing a BSc, BCom, BDatSci, Honours, or Masters in:

  • Statistics
  • Data Science
  • Pure Mathematics
  • Computational & Applied Mathematics
  • Informatics / Information Systems
  • Computer Science
  • Econometrics
  • Behavioural Economics (with interest in banking analytics, credit decisioning, or fraud)
  • Actuarial Science (with interest in credit risk, risk analytics, or financial risk management)

Note: This programme is tailored for careers in banking risk analytics. Graduates seeking actuarial insurance, product pricing, or investment banking careers may consider alternative programmes.

Honours degrees should be completed by 31 December 2026.

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Work experience, if any, should not exceed 18 months
  • Must submit:

    • Full academic transcripts (undergraduate and postgraduate)
