Students Can Still Apply for the SASCP Bursary 2026
South African students studying Crop Science, Agronomy, or related agricultural fields can now apply for the South African Society of Crop Production (SASCP) Bursary Programme for the 2026 academic year.
The bursary aims to support students who are passionate about crop production, agricultural research, and sustainable farming practices in South Africa.
Students who meet the requirements are encouraged to apply before the deadline on 15 March 2026.
About the South African Society of Crop Production (SASCP)
The South African Society of Crop Production was established in 1971 in Pretoria, South Africa by five founding members:
- DF Retief
- SA Hulme
- E Strydom
- PJ Möhr
- PC Nel
The organisation plays a key role in crop science research and agricultural development, promoting innovation and knowledge sharing within the farming sector.
Members of SASCP contribute to research in areas such as:
- Oil crops
- Maize production
- Small grains
- Protein seed crops
These research efforts help strengthen food security and sustainable agriculture in South Africa.
SASCP Bursary 2026 – Fields of Study
The SASCP Bursary Programme 2026 provides financial assistance to students studying within the field of Crop Production.
Eligible study areas include:
- Agronomy
- Crop Science
- Crop Production
- Related agricultural programmes
The bursary is available for both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.
Bursary Value
The bursary amount depends on the level of study:
- Undergraduate students: R15 000
- MSc students: R20 000
- PhD students: R25 000
This funding is intended to help students continue their studies and contribute to the future of sustainable agriculture and crop research.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen or permanent resident
- Must have completed Matric
- Must be studying full-time
- Must be enrolled in Agronomy, Crop Science, or Crop Production
- Undergraduate students must have completed their first year
- Must be studying at a recognised South African university
Applications that do not meet the minimum requirements may not be considered.
