Who Can Apply?

To qualify for the 2026 study grant, applicants must:

  • Be a SAAFoST member for at least 12 months prior to applying
  • Be studying full-time at an approved institution
  • Be pursuing:
    • BSc (Hons) in Food Science, or
    • BTech in Food Technology
  • Maintain a minimum overall average of 70%
  • Have a strong academic record

Failure to meet any of the above requirements will result in disqualification.

How the Application Process Works

Students cannot apply directly.

Instead:

  • Department Heads must nominate eligible students
  • Each institution may nominate only one candidate
  • Awards cannot be shared or transferred

If you meet the criteria, contact your Department Head as soon as possible and request nomination.

  • Proof of SAAFoST membership
  • Proof of full-time registration
  • Complete academic record for all previous years
  • Official nomination form (PDF or DOCX)
