About the Radiographer Role

The Radiographer will render diagnostic radiography services in line with prescribed protocols, radiation safety standards, and medico-legal requirements.

Radiography services operate on a 24-hour basis, and successful candidates will be required to participate in shift and standby rosters.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12
  • National Diploma or Degree in Diagnostic Radiography
  • Proof of registration as an independent practitioner with the HPCSA
  • Proof of current annual HPCSA registration
  • Completion of community service as required by the professional body
  • No post-registration experience required
  • Computer literacy
  • Excellent time management, communication, and report-writing skills
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and work ethics
  • Ability to work independently without supervision

Knowledge and Competencies

  • Public Service legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Department of Health (DOH) guidelines and radiography policies
  • X-ray digital systems, RIS and PACS
  • Radiographic procedures and techniques
  • Quality control and record-keeping processes

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Providing diagnostic radiography services on a 24-hour roster
  • Producing quality X-ray images according to prescribed protocols
  • Applying radiation control and medico-legal requirements
  • Assisting in the training of Community Service Radiographers
  • Participating in departmental quality assurance and quality control tests
  • Participating in and facilitating CPD activities as required by HPCSA
  • Adhering to Batho Pele Principles, National Core Standards, and Public Service policies
  • Carrying out duties delegated by departmental management
  • Working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
