This position supports the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Directorate through administrative coordination, reporting, and compliance support.

How the Role Works

The Administrative Officer works closely with management and key stakeholders to coordinate OHS activities, support audits, and maintain compliance records.

The role combines planning, reporting, coordination, and record-keeping across weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Capturing and consolidating Occupational Health and Safety reports
  • Organising OHS training sessions, workshops, and meetings
  • Coordinating site visits for the OHS Chief Directorate
  • Maintaining records of inspections, incident investigations, and training activities
  • Preparing compliance documentation for audits and regulatory reviews
  • Tracking safety performance indicators and compliance progress
  • Promoting a culture of health and safety within construction environments
  • Compiling OHS statistics on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Providing general administrative and coordination support to management

Who Should Apply

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 or a National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in:
    • Public Management
    • Public Administration
    • Management Assistant
  • 2–3 years’ experience in Occupational Health and Safety administration
  • Knowledge of project management principles
  • Understanding of ISO standards
  • Familiarity with OHS compliance tools, including hazard and risk identification
  • Knowledge of the OHS Act and construction health and safety legislation
